Tamilnadu District Map

A Guide to Maps of India

One of the largest states in the country, Tamil Nadu lies at the southernmost tip of India. According to any district map of Tamil Nadu, the state marks the confluence point of the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal, and the Indian Ocean.

The southernmost tip of India coincides with a town in Tamil Nadu called Kanyakumari. Here one gets to behold a sunrise like no other.

Where lofty hills and lengthy beaches are in ubiquity, Tamil Nadu is a land of diverse beauty. The temples here are unique, in that they are the only ones based on Dravidian architecture.  Distinctively, the temples of Tamil Nadu have a telltale skyscraper of a Gopuram.

To the ends of finding gorgeous temples, one must set off for the equally interesting villages of Madurai, Trichy, Tanjore, Kanchipuram, Swamithoppe, Palani, Tiruvallur and Mahabalipuram.

In mid-sea rests the Vivekananda Rock Memorial while the Thiruvalluvar statue towers somewhere inland.

From the coasts one may choose to move on to stunning hill stations like Kodaikanal, Nilgiris and Yercaud.  Also worth of rapt attention in Tamil Nadu is the Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary located in Gudalur and the Pitchavaram Mangrove forests located in Chidambaram.

Apart from temples and what have you, Tamil Nadu is home to vast reserves of Indian lignite, magnesite and garnet among others.
