With peaks that ascend to the very threshold of the sky, high above verdure and life, this is surely a place not of this earth. If anything, the people here are engrossed in perpetual prayer, any more than the angels in heaven with their endless hymns.
So even from a tourist map of Sikkim, one would find here a landscape bedizened with monasteries. When in Sikkim, a whispered prayer or two is welcome at any these sites. While these are the houses of worship for the Buddhist faith, one cannot help but be carried away by the aura of love and forgiveness in these places.
In itself, Sikkim has always come into its own as a natural tourist spot. Tsomgo Lake alone teems with life, just like the Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden. But nothing can compare with the orchids of Saramsa Garden, hailed as Sikkim's most profuse. From here, one may admire the absolute stillness of the Wishing Lake, Pechopari. |
