From every way one looks at it, Punjab is never short on breathtaking places alone. As it is, Punjab is a showcase of nature, so to speak. Its fields are gilded yellow with wheat, its horizons blue with mountains.
Stripped of its picturesque lands, Punjab is still stuffed to its finest fiber with spectacles ineffably unheard of elsewhere. In Amritsar, one gets to behold the Golden Temple, many a Sikh’s most revered place.
History may have been in on this inexplicable concentration of attractive spots. As archaeological excavations in places like Roop Nagar have corroborated, Punjab is eye-catching even in the distant past. In fact, the archaeological remains yielded here are that of the primordial Harappan civilization.
In all, the draws of Punjab are on earth and beneath it. A rail map of Punjab would also reveal great places such as the Govindgarh Fort and the Bathinda Fort. |
