Kalinga or Orissa should leave everyone else in the dust. The least a rendezvous can whip up here is a holiday unheard of elsewhere.
As far as the district map of Orissa says, one may locate this idyllic fantasyland by the shores of the Bay of Bengal at the periphery of the Eastern Ghats. Only a land as fantastic as this suspends belief, especially when one comes at close range with the white tiger.
Wildlife is truly the stuff of dreams in Orissa, as much as its monuments and shrines are flights of the imagination – except that they are all seen in one’s waking moments.
Unsurprisingly then, the state has edifices of untold gorgeousness, let alone one of the most spectacular temples in the world. If anything, Orissa’s temples have a style all their own.
