Here, animals in their most feral should not be far behind. Due to its green jungles, Nagaland is home to a number of wildlife sanctuaries like the Fakim Wildlife Sanctuary and Itanki Wildlife Sanctuary. Circumscribed in their expanse are tigers, elephants, gibbons and many others. Over twenty species of endangered birds also have their cribs at the Ghosu Bird Sanctuary.
While a map of Nagaland would not show these critters, it should display from the get-go the glory of Nagaland’s landscape. In here, trekkers find solace in locations like the Satoi Range.
The beauty of Nagaland extends to its people. By all accounts, this region’s tribes find their mention in olden epochs. Time spent with them ensures a brush with the pageantry of costumes and what have you. Angami, Ao, Chakhesang, Chang, Khiamniungan, Kuki, Konyak, Lotha, Phom, Pochury, Rengma, Sumi, Sangtam, Yimchungru, Zeliang – there has to be one among these tribes to dazzle the senses. In the end, tourists may find themselves in the bewitching capital city, Kohima. Perched 1,500 meters above the earth, Kohima is more than the usual hill station, as it is laden with natural and historical beauty.
