Some trips are made for knowing, before discovering, that is. According to a district map of Nagaland, the said state consists of eleven administrative districts. They are Kohima, Dimapur, Mokokchung, Mon, Phek, Tuensang, Wokha, Zunheboto, Peren, Longleng and Kiphire.
There are many places to see in Nagaland, as seen in a map of Nagaland readily. Many are concentrated in Kohima, the state capital that is also a hill station.
The Nagaland State Museum is situated here, a treasure trove of the Naga culture through which history can be beheld. Priceless items include gateposts, statues, pillars, jewelry and a ceremonial drum that looks like a dugout war canoe.
Also in Kohima is one of the biggest cathedrals in the northeast, the Catholic Cathedral at Aradura Hill. One needs to look up and wonder because it is known throughout India for the biggest cross made of wood. |
