Any road map of Meghalaya would show that the said state is bounded on the north and east by the state of Assam and on the south and west by the country of Bangladesh.
The demographics of Meghalaya revolve around three tribal denominations, namely the Khasis, the Jaintias and the Garos. The Khasis hold dominion in the center of the state, the Jaintias in the east and Garos in the west. While the Khasis and Jaintias have the Austro-Monkhmer race for its DNA base, the Garos are of Tibeto-Burman lineage.
All three tribes are matriarchal in makeup, in that lineage and ancestral property pass down from mother to daughter. To these people, celebrating the festivals known as Shad Suk Mynsiem, Behdeinkhlam, Wangala and Pomblang Nongkrem is always imperative, for the right reasons.
