Lying south of Nagaland, north of Mizoram and east of Assam, is the wondrous Manipur state. According to a road map of Manipur, a compendium of attractions awaits visitors to this Indian state.
Adjoining the Royal Palace of Manipur's former Maharajas, Shree Govindajee Temple is one such, located in Imphal, the capital. A historic Vaishnavite center, the said temple is a resplendent structure, complete with a paved courtyard and an elevated congregation hall.
Also in Imphal is the Khwairamband Bazaar, a market run by thousands of "Imas" or mothers. Other towns that mesmerize are Moirang, Bishnupur, and Khongjom.
For a piece of history, all maps of Manipur lead to the War Cemeteries, which commemorates the valiant British and Indian soldiers who died during the Second World War. Yet another historically significant side of the state is in Khongjom along with Red Hill, a hillock. |
