If location is any indication, some truly enchanting times are waiting. And why not indeed -- due to its association with Lord Krishna, Amravati stands for "abode of immortals." Its attractions are no less immortal, standing the test of time to have a place among India’s saturated antiquities.
For the most part, Amravati’s places of interest are temples, as in the Ambadevi Temple, set right at the center of the city. Supposedly, Rukmini came to pray at this temple, catching the eyes of Shri Krishna, who then abducted and married her. Nice to know, to be there would be even nicer, magical.
And fascinations for temples, should we say, Amravati boasts of the Satidham Temple, located near Rallies Plot in the city. Housed here are beautiful idols of Lord Krishna-Radha, Lord Ram and Goddess Sita, Lord Ganesh, Lord Shiva and Rani Satiji. Shri Bhakti Dham Temple is yet another attractive temple, devoted to Lord Krishna and Radha. |
