When in Bhopal, one must not miss visiting the Taj-ul-Masjid, the largest mosque in India. The wonder lies in knowing that Dost Muhammad established the city sometime in the 18th century.
But we save more attention for Madhya Pradesh’s largest city, Indore -- the undisputed commercial center of agriculture where wheat, millet, corn, cotton, and oilseed are parlayed in abundance.
Fascinatingly, the city is host to several palaces courtesy of the Maratha dynasty of Holkars.
Less gritty but equally important is the city of Gwalior. An ancient fort, Gwalior was the capital of the Sindhias.
Jai Vilas Palace is here – and we are nound to look up in awe because the largest crystal chandeliers in the world are here. |
