A Guide to Maps of India

To many Indians, Bangalore is more than the traditional bastion of silk and sandalwood.

It is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the Third World, whose economic grit is verging near unrelenting. In recent years, Bangalore has been esteemed as India’s answer to Silicon Valley.

For all its IT affectations, Bangalore will always be that certain place in India where to find some of the best silk in the world, let alone sandalwood at its best.

Granted, Bangalore has fallen back on its grandiose historical attractions to lure visitors other than the laptop-toting ones. No visit is complete without a stop at the Vidhana Soudha or the Bangalore Palace at least.

As the city’s spaces are gradually consumed by modern developments, green spaces adamantly reinforce their hold.

The magnificently manicured Lalbagh Gardens still stand, as well as the effervescently green Cubbon Park.

Furthermore, not the tallest skyscraper in Bangalore can topple the edifice called Tipu's Palace into oblivion.

So long as the Hindu faithful cling on to their gods, the Bull Temple will always be part and parcel of Bangalore. Otherwise, the devout zeroes in on the much newer ISKCON Temple.

As for secular delights, the Jawahar Lal Nehru Planetarium is every way the “science city" it is cracked up to be.

Alternatively, one may check out the Aquarium, India’s second largest.
