A Guide to Maps of India

Even in its northernmost frontiers, India never scrimps on awing someone with the highest degree of enthrallment. Lands straight out of fairy tales manifest themselves here, as in Jammu and Kashmir. If one wants a reprieve from the mundane, a tourist map of Jammu and Kashmir is in order.

Onwards to the valley of Kashmir, whose all-too popular beauty moved even a Mughal emperor. For stirring someone jaded with the finer things in life, Kashmir has to be really something.

As the Super Switzerland of Asia, Kashmir is a realm of flowers, fruits, springs, lakes and Chinar trees. Everyone fawns over its shimmering works of nature, like Dal Lake and Gulmarg.

Set in the foothills of the towering Himalayas, Kashmir is probably the oldest known holiday resort on earth, inspiring so much art and poetry since time immemorial.

Dal Lake also washes upon Srinagar, a city of medieval flavor and sheer natural resplendence.

Part of Kashmir’s culture is to dwell in houseboats on this lake. When in Srinagar, in the vicinity of Dal Lake, visitors must check out the Mughal Gardens.

Of the three regions in Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu is the most all-embracing in terrain and beauty. This region has its hands full with lakes and valleys. Some of these are even uncharted still.

When in Jammu, Raghunath Temple must warrant a visit. But the oldest edifice in Jammu is Bahu Fort, which holds a grand temple, garden and forest cover.

Taking everyone’s breath somewhere else in Jammu are ornate structures such as Amar Singh Palace, Peer Baba, and Mubarak Mandi Palace.
