“Heaven on earth” in particular is somewhere in Kashmir Valley though. The seventeenth century Mughal emperor Jahangir himself referred to "paradise” as this valley.
He said this while setting adrift on his boat house across the undeniably beautiful Dal Lake of Kashmir Valley. Especially with the ineffably attractive Mughal gardens, every waking moment in Kashmir is ecstasy to anyone, emperor or not.
Aside from Kashmir, places dear to tourists in the state include Gulmarg and the Valley of Shepherds, Pahalgam.
In the Jammu areas, tens of thousands of the Hindu and Muslim faithful come to pilgrimage spots. On the other hand, Ladakh is renowned for its remote mountain beauty and Buddhist culture, in spite of a predominantly Muslim populace. Besides, Ladakh is India’s very own “Little Tibet". |
