Introduction of Daman

Daman was formerly known as ‘Damao’. It was sited on the borders of the Arabian Sea, enclosed by Kolak River to the North, Kalai River to the South, Gujarat on the East and to the West is the Gulf of Cambay.

The picturesque and serene beaches of Daman are so invigorating that all the tourists find it a true place of retreat and refuge from their busy schedules.

The Devika beach has an amusement park and Nani Daman rejuvenates the tourists. The festive days in Daman are a grand treat to your eyes.

The Jampore beach also is a very pristine place and is ideal for solitary seekers. It is at an altitude of 12 meters.

The summer temperature reaches to 36 and Minimum 20 degree Celsius, while winter is maximum 26 and Minimum 20 degrees Celsius. The best and ideal season for visiting is during October to May.

Places of Attraction

Some of the excellent places of attraction are Fort, Nani Daman, Light House, Moti Damat Fort, Bom Jesus Church, Our lady of Sea Church, Hilsa Aquarium, Hathi Park, Bridge Side Garden, Kachigam Water Tank and Municipal Children Park. Besides these attractions the prominent beaches are the Devika beach near Nani Daman and the Jampore Beach near Moti Daman area.

Accessibility to Daman

By Road, it is 93 kms from Mumbai, from Ahmedabad it is 67kms, from Panaji via Mumbai it is 87 kms and from Diu it is 763 kms. By Rail, the nearest railway station is Vapi at a distance of 12 kms. By Air, the nearest airport is Mumbai which is at a distance of 193 kms.

Introduction of Diu

Diu is an island sited bordering the Junagadh district, in Gujarat. The term ‘Diu’ is acquired from the Sanskrit word ‘Dweep’. Diu was one of the best Sea Ports and Naval base during 14th to 16th century. It is believed that Pandavas had spent few days at a place called ManiNagar in Diu during the Mahabharata period. The ideal season to visit Diu is October to May.

Places of Attraction

Some of the places of attraction are the Diu fort, Gupta Prayag, Nagao Beach, Forte do Mar, Gangeshwar Temple and Shaking Tower. Besides this some of the places appropriate for excursions are Girnar Hill at Junagadh, Palitana, Somnath Temple, Tulsi Shyam, Sasangir, Ahmedpur Mandvi and Chorwad. Nagoa beach is one of the best beautiful beaches and is unique for its distinct shoe shape.
