Popular with tourists as a summer retreat, Himachal Pradesh has for its backbone the unbelievably Kullu Valley. With the sparkling Beas River coursing through it, Himachal Pradesh is hands down one of the India’s cherished states.
Notwithstanding the heat of its south, Himachal Pradesh is a salubriously great place to be. In its loveliest, in the Valley of Kullu, one will know. Endearingly called the "Valley of the Gods", Kullu is blessed with apple orchards, pine trees, and green meadows, unlike any other.
Shimla is also much visited, not by default for being the state capital, but for the irrepressible Raj aura here.
Formerly the British colonizers’ summer capital, Shimla has always been one of India's most favorite hill stations. Other hill stations of note are Dalhousie and Kasauli. |
No one must also miss Manali for anything. Famous with Homeymooners, Manali has charming attractions such as the nearly half-millennium old Dhoongri Temple, hot sulfur springs, and glaciers as in Solang.
Some distance away from Manali is the historical Rohtang Pass, which offers some of the most spectacular perspectives of the Himalayas.
If skiing is one’s game, a no-brainer trip to Kufri is in order. The hill station has long been a word-of-mouth destination among skiing enthusiasts.
On the other hand, if drawing near the Dalai Lama is a matter of life and death, the hill town of Dharamshala awaits.
