We are to know that Patan is Gujarat’s pride for being a prosperous, fortified town.
And it shows – in subtle splendor: pleasant town squares, attractive bazaars, charming gardens with lovely fountains and gorgeously lined trees, and monuments of such persons of eminence: Rani ki Vav, Sahastralinga Talav and Khan Sarovar -- all cuddled in 18 miles of circumferential area.
We are to single out Rani ki Vav for impressing the finest of the Indian sculptures and architecture -- think of the Hindu deities and maidens, sacred motifs and bold, geometrical patterns adorning.
Promenading through, we cannot help but lay your eyes upon the intricately carved water well.
In Patan, the devotees may wish to linger for a day or two as there are a number of Jain and Hindu temples around town to visit. |
