A Guide to Maps of India

There are rickshaws galore in Delhi, yes, but deciding what and where to begin is easier said than done.

With a multitude of interesting places and the multifaceted culture to discover, exploring Delhi is a trip made for a tough exploit.  For one, the historical Chandni Chowk is an expansive complex that anywhere of a day’s 24 hours is not enough.

With McDonalds, KFC and Pizza Hut on its turf, the signs of modernity are palpable and seemingly taking over Delhi.  Today, mosques, forts, and other monuments that dot the spacious Delhi landscape -- like precious jewels, silently speak the stateliness of the Old Delhi.

Travelers, ready to wade through the equally eager mob of tourists will heave a sigh of relief knowing that these traditional attractions are well plotted in any consulates map of Delhi.

Past the lines of many pompous government buildings and embassies, the majestic Red Fort beckons in the near distance, enveloping even in its grandeur.

A treat for any history buff is the Rashtrapati Bhawan, the one-time imperial residence of the British viceroys.

And look now -- the Taj at Agra and all later Mughal monuments has a forerunner in the Humayun's Tomb. Harried and all, there is a moment to pause in Laxminarayan Temple. In these grounds the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, was assassinated in 1948.
