A Guide to Maps of India

It’s not everyday that we experience elephant rides and a dip in a hot water spring.  It’s quite unusual to see temple ruins on a seemingly forgotten hill – the Deopahar Ruins, let alone to find out that there are hundred of monkeys housed in a temple.

That is Golaghat for some us who like things a little peculiar.  A curios traveler, even with a map of Golaghat to check along the journey, cannot possibly get enough of the weird and the wonderful in this spot fit for serious exploring.

A daring exploration may start in Kaziranga National Park to mingle with the great Indian one-horned Rhinoceros, tigers, leopards and wild pigs.

If one cannot the stares of the beasts there are several watchtowers for a peaceful view of wildlife in the swampland.  But save the last for an enjoyable elephant ride.

There are more elephants to see, the wild kind grazing by the side of the highway if you decide to check Garampani -- because you desperately want a hot water spring dip in this soothing enclave in Nambar Reserve Forest.

The following day, flex and head for Neghereting Shiva Mandir, an ancient Shiva temple surrounded by lush green tea gardens. We are not telling you that the temple home of hundreds of monkeys.
