Remarkable edifices, big and small, never
fail to amaze visitors to Hyderabad. Indeed,
the presence of a Mecca, an important house
of prayer, and several palaces and diamonds,
too, reflect the kind of ethereal beauty
and grandeur that is uniquely Hyderabad.

Ten thousand men at prayer can, as one,
say their prayers at the Mecca Masjid, a
grand edifice with a vast, embracing courtyard.
The opulence of the whole massive structure
is made more magnificent by the minarets
and granite finish.
Where King George V and King Edward VIII
of England once stepped, are now grounds
for every visitor to be entranced, in the
Chowmukha palace, the Regency Mansion and
the Falakuma palace.
The latter houses a cache of most expensive
art objects, tapestries and carpets along
with the largest single-man collection of
diamonds.
Better search where diamonds abound, in
Golconda known as famous center for diamonds.
Here, the diamond mines boast of some of
the most renowned diamonds in the world. |
If sparkles are elusive, sure visible
on anybody’s map of Hyderabad is the
adorable Husain Sagar Lake, a large artificial
lake, lying between Hyderabad and Secunderaad
or the Naubat Pahad, a hilltop crowned by
the Birla temple where one can afford a
dazzling view of the city.
